Year 5 have just returned from an amazing few days in the woods on a Bushcraft experience. This is a video of what we did.
Reception Class had a wonderful walk in the woods around Shearwater lake. We enjoyed the autumn sunshine, admiring the colours of the leaves and collected interesting items which included leaves, acorns and sweet chestnuts. We ended our morning with a splash in the stream which resulted in lots of wellies being filled with water!
This week Reception Class have been inspired by the work of Andy Goldsworthy. they collected natural resources and use them to make their own art installations. Here are the final versions.
Pre-Prep loved their first visit of the year to Clearwood. After a bumpy ride up the farm track, we all found our special keys to enter the wood (a sign of autumn or a perfect leaf) and then we were able to enter our special forest school area. The morning started with a game of ‘1,2,3, where are you?’ and then we separated into groups for activities which included bark rubbing, colour matching and twig writing. We then came back round the campfire for a delicious hot dog lunch with sausages cooked over the open fire. This was definitely the best part of the day for some children! After lunch children could have some free play time or practise whittling with vegetable peelers to make magic wands. We returned to school tired but happy.
Year 3 thought that their first afternoon in the forest was, in their words…….. very exciting and fun, nice to meet a frog, pretty in the forest, great to make bug hotels and houses, and awesome fun making a camouflaged den!
