Reception and Year One have been learning to taste chocolate with Mrs Shepherd.
Year Four have written and illustrated some very exciting science fiction books, especially for Reception class. Today we met the authors and listened to them reading their stories.
We were very impressed by their hard work.
Reception Class have really enjoyed growing butterflies in our classroom this term. Five weeks ago we took delivery of two pots of very tiny caterpillars. We have looked after them carefully watching as they grew and grew and grew! We kept a diary of their development with children taking it in turn to write an entry and take photos of the different stages. When we came back after half term we were very excited to find that instead of caterpillars we had chrysalides! We are now very proud to announce that from 10 tiny caterpillars we now have 10 beautiful Painted Lady butterflies. The children have been transfixed as each day we saw more butterflies emerging from their chrysalides. We learnt the word metamorphosis and Noah said “It’s really amazing, isn’t it Mrs Cross, how they change from caterpillars into butterflies.” Hattie described it as being “like a flick of magic” and it truly has been!
Reception class are learning about bees this week. We have found out how bees make honey and tasted a delicious piece of honey comb, dripping with runny, golden honey. Yummy !
Googly, the little alien we rescued last term, has returned to his own planet and sent a message asking for our help. He needs to learn about mini beasts on planet Earth, so we have agreed to help him. Today we put on our wellies, gathered some useful equipment and set off to hunt for bugs and creepy crawlies. We want to find out as much as we can about these little creatures.
Mr Titley issued a challenge at the end of last term: Can you celebrate our wonderful planet for Earth Day? Let your creativity loose!!
Can you see the wonderful work we have produced during the Easter holiday?
Today marks an important day in the fashion world calendar…the annual Pre Prep Easter bonnet parade. Here are Reception class showing their very own creations. Don’t they look wonderful? Every entrant in the parade was rewarded for their hard work, with an Easter treat…yummy!
Reception class joined the other Pre Prep classes, for a wonderful morning at Shearwater, in the Spring sunshine. We spotted a frog hiding in a tree trunk, found tadpoles in the stream and saw buds bursting on the trees. We played in the woodland and splashed in plenty of muddy puddles..such fun!
Reception class are sharing books with some strange looking characters today..could these be our reading partners?
Reception enjoyed some Welsh culture today. Lowri, dressed in traditional clothing, served us with welsh cakes for our snack. We really loved the fruity taste.
